Knight in Shining Armor - No Such Thing

Even though I’m gay, I never felt particularly defined by my sexuality. As a matter of fact, most people in my professional life never question my sexual orientation. I don’t hide the fact that I’m gay and find that being gay is a non-issue in my adult life. Alternatively, what it did provide in early adulthood was the realism that a man would not show up one day and take care of me. Most straight chicks have a different mindset.

As a gay woman, I knew there wouldn't be any economic uplift through marriage. Unfortunately, many women are conditioned to think snagging a man is the extent of their financial plan. Generally speaking, their mothers teach them that a man will solve their problems or take care of them. Often times this expectation is set by example. Single women delay the purchase of a home because they don’t want to get locked into something when they hope to someday own a home with a husband. What a stupid idea.
